Case Study – Enterprise

NVH & Sound Platform

The problem

NVH stands for Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. This phenomenon refers to the unwanted noises, vibrations and irregularities that can occur during the operation of a vehicle. NVH phenomena are of great importance in the automotive industry as they have a significant impact on the quality and comfort of a vehicle. The reduction of NVH is an important aspect in the development of vehicles. It is important for us to develop a suitable solution for data processing of this phenomenon to help significantly in the promotion of quality and comfort in development and implementation.

Project goals

The aim of this project is to record and analyse NVH phenomena in vehicles. Automated evaluation methods and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to recognise phenomena. This includes the integration of test bench measurements and simulation calculations. In addition, visualisations, the analysis and comparison of simulation and measurement data as well as the targeted search for metadata are to be made possible. A data platform (NVH & Sound Platform) is to be created for the efficient consolidation and utilisation of NVH&Sound data in the cloud.

Initial situation

Previously, there was no way to efficiently compare measurement and simulation data, as there was no shared data access or the option to enter metadata. The relevant data was located on different servers, which made it difficult to analyse and compare. In addition, measurement metadata was only stored in the file name, which made data management inefficient.

Project solution

The solution to this challenge comprises the following steps:

Product and service

The solution for this project includes a web application based on React with integration of Power BI. In addition, an iOS app is being developed that allows users to rate journeys offline. The backend will be shared between the web application and the iOS app to facilitate data exchange. Finally, the system will be hosted in the cloud and offer the possibility to exchange data with systems.

The implementation of this solution will help to significantly increase the efficiency and quality of recording and analysing NVH phenomena in the automotive industry. The comparison of measurement and simulation data as well as the management of metadata will be facilitated, which in turn will help to better understand and reduce NVH phenomena in vehicles. This is of great importance as low NVH quality contributes to improved driving comfort and competitiveness in the market.
